Those of a certain age will understand the headline.
I thought I was going to be able to retire from my filmmaking career and spend retirement reading, writing, traveling and remaining civically engaged.
While I've done a modicum of all those activities, I never expected the Tannish Inquisition. Like you, I was devastated when my fellow citizens elected the fake-tan, real fascist ignoramus as president.

I didn't expect to spend my retirement marching, and shouting, and debating and protesting in the streets. That bored-to-tears, Catholic-school-uniform-wearing teenager writing Jefferson Airplane lyrics in the margins of my lined tablet during another boring lecture on economics, couldn't have imagined that the world would get worse than it was in 1969.
How wrong I was.

So here I am, organizing an April 5 protest march on the Main Street of my hometown.
Volunteers of Amerika, indeed.
